The IDSC is currently conducting a survey on the Xerox Phaser 8860 printer and would greatly appreciate your participation. We are offering free printing on this printer until the end of the term.
In exchange, we are asking that you provide feedback on your experience with the printer including ease of use, drivers, output, quality, speed, networking, etc. The results of this survey will allow IDSC management to determine the small-format color printing needs of our lab users so that we can provide a more sustainable and cost-effective option in the future.
If you're too busy to complete projects in the lab, you can hire us to do the work for you for a nominal fee. Just be ready to provide a departmental or grant-based index code, personal check, or cash and we'll be glad to take on the work. We highly recommend that you review the copyright and liability policies prior to submitting a workorder.
The IDSC maintains black & white and color laserjet printers, color inkjet printers, and 2 wide-format inkjet printers. Basic specifications are described below.
All workstations in the IDSC lab are equipped with a standard set of hardware. Workstations are further divided into specialty areas for media development (i.e. web, graphics, video) and include additional peripheral equipment (i.e. scanners, VCR's, MiniDV). Both Mac and Windows platforms have equivalent hardware and software allowing lab users to work in the operating system of their choice. In addition to workstation hardware, we offer a wide variety of printers.
The IDSC does not directly distribute copies of the PSU logo, logotype, or other elements of the PSU identity.
Duplexing (also referred to as double-sided printing) is printing on both the front and back sides of a single sheet of paper. Generally all OIT labs and classrooms printers are set up to duplex by default. In the event that you need to turn on/off duplex printing, follow the instructions below.
PC
If the fonts and images in your document print with jagged edges, the file resolution may be too low to print smoothly or the file may contain PostScript data. If you used a special font to create your document, we may not have it installed on our workstations. Try selecting another font, or returning to the original computer and creating a PDF of the file.
Generally we support a maximum of 100"x44" for the Epson 9600 and 9800 plotters. While both printers can print up to 44" wide, the full width of the paper, there may be size limitations due to software or media selected.
We recommend using Adobe Illustrator (.AI) for wide-format printing, which is available on several Mac and PC workstations in the lab. We also accept Photoshop (.PSD), Tagged Image File Format (.TIFF), Acrobat (.PDF), InDesign (.INDD) and PowerPoint (.PPT) files. Although most programs that can print to letter-sized paper can also print to the wide-format printers, there may be size limitations.
Yes. Please refer to the lab price list for current pricing and color printing options.
