My computer is Quarantined: What next?

Virus Infections

Computers on campus at PSU are subject to the PSU Acceptable Use Policy; computers infected with a virus may allow unauthorized access to the machine and/or unsolicited mass mailing of spam emails, which are both a security risk and a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.  Computers that have been infected by a virus are typically caught and “jailed” by the PSU network team and blocked from accessing the PSU network, to isolate and prevent the threat from spreading.  See the  article “

File-Sharing and Digital Copyright Enforcement Guidelines

What is the DMCA?

The Digital Millennium Copyright Act or DMCA covers any copyrighted material including music, movies, software and books. Although file-sharing has become commonplace, it is a violation of federal law and PSU's Acceptable Use Policy to download or distribute copyrighted files to which you do not have rights. The RIAA and MPAA aggressively pursue violators of the law protecting copyright holders. The penalties can be severe.

Computer Lab Printing Policy

Printing in the Portland State University Academic Computing Labs is regulated by printing quotas. Each user is allocated 500 pages per term that do not carry over to the next term. Users that do not exceed their quota will not incur any charges.
